The Gulf Comprehensive Center (Gulf CC) will partner with the Alabama State Department of Education (ALSDE) to update and revise family engagement guidance and resources for educators. This work will be a joint effort among multiple offices within the ALSDE to equip educators with evidence-based practices for supporting and engaging families and guardians of all students in Alabama. The work will occur in phases, starting with the development of a revised draft and a plan for dissemination. The second phase will focus on implementation through a regional community of practice, and the last phase will include support for scaling and sustaining efforts around family and community engagement. The project team in collaboration with its state partners expects to achieve the following short-term (1 year), medium-term (2-3 years), and long-term (4+ years) outcomes as described below.
Expected Outcomes
- Short-Term Outcome
- Increased state and regional capacity to develop guidance on current approaches and evidence-based practices on family and community engagement
- Medium-Term Outcome
- Increased state and regional capacity to implement the AL Family and Community Engagement Guidance through continuous improvement practices
- Long-Term Outcome
- Increased state and regional capacity to scale and sustain implementation of the AL Family and Community Engagement Guidance using continuous improvement practices
