This project will focus on supporting Florida’s implementation of effective strategies to increase student attendance and interventions to reduce chronic absenteeism. The project focuses on the development of materials, training, and coaching to identify students at risk of chronic absenteeism and nationally recognized and state-specific evidence-based interventions for addressing chronic absenteeism. The project team in collaboration with state partners expects to achieve several short-term (1 year), medium-term (2-3 years), and long-term (4+ years) outcomes as described below.
Expected Outcomes
- Short-Term Outcome
- Developed training toolkit/resources to increase student attendance and reduce chronic absenteeism, based on local, state, and evidence-based strategies/interventions
- Medium-Term Outcome
- Increased use by district/school staff of data to increase student attendance, identify students at risk of chronic absenteeism, and implement accompanying evidence-based strategies/interventions and local promising practices
- Long-Term Outcome
- Increased student attendance and reduced chronic absenteeism in participating districts and schools
