Carlos Nelson
Carlos Nelson is currently the superintendent of Sheffield City Schools. He has been in the education field for over 27 years, serving in the capacity of teacher, football/baseball coach, assistant principal, turnaround principal, federal programs coordinator, curriculum director, career and technical education director, and textbook coordinator. During his career in education, he has been an active member and Board member for the Council of Leaders in Alabama Schools and the Alabama Association of School Curriculum Directors, where he currently serves as past-president. He currently serves on the University of North Alabama and Northwest Shoals Community College Foundation Board of Directors.
He received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Secondary Education Social Science, Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership, and Educational Specialist Degree in Educational Leadership from the University of North Alabama. He earned his Doctorate Degree in Educational Leadership from Samford University. He is married to the former Deirdre Mullins, who is a school counselor in the Muscle Shoals City School System. Carlos is a member of Eastside Church of Christ and Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. He enjoys golf, traveling, tailgating, football, and working in his lawn service… Nelson’s Lawn Service.
