Guillermo Farfan
| Guillermo Farfan, Ph.D., is a Research Associate at RMC Research Corporation. He earned his Ph.D. in Educational Psychology and his graduate certificate in Measurement & Statistics from Florida State University and completed post-doctoral training at the IES Summer Research Training Institute on Cluster-Randomized Trials at Northwestern University. He is also a What Works Clearinghouse Certified Reviewer.
Over the years, Dr. Farfan has been involved in the planning, collection, management, and data analysis for large-scale research projects in education, including several under IES and NSF grants, where he often lent his expertise in the assessment of mathematics classroom instruction. He also provides technical assistance and intensive professional development in the area of K-12 mathematics education to state education agencies in the Southeastern United States. Before his time at Florida State, Dr. Farfan worked as a math teacher in Tampa and Orlando, Florida. His research interests include the implementation of mathematics standards and its effect on mathematics teachers’ pedagogical knowledge and practice, as well as the effectiveness of teacher participation in mathematics professional development programs. He is a member and has served as a reviewer for the American Educational Research Association, the Association for Psychological Science, and the William T. Grant Foundation.
