Heidi T. Goertzen
Heidi Goertzen, Ph.D., is a Senior Research Associate at RMC Research Corporation’s Tampa office. Dr. Goertzen focuses her work on providing evaluation, professional learning, and technical assistance at state, district, and school levels. In her role at RMC, Dr. Goertzen serves as the Gulf Comprehensive Center Co-Deputy Director, where she supports state leaders in the region with the implementation of state-identified priorities and is liaison to the Alabama State Department of Education. She also serves as partnership manager on the Regional Education Laboratory (REL) Southeast Alabama Improving English Learner (EL) Outcomes Research Partnership and leads an EL program evaluation and master planning project in a large urban district in Georgia. Dr. Goertzen has practiced extensively at state and district levels, providing leadership and expertise related to building the capacity of educators to improve and develop effective practices and policies through the implementation of evidence-based practices. Her primary areas of focus include educator quality, continuous improvement, and strategic planning using an EL lens. Dr. Goertzen is a former EL teacher and federal programs director.
EDUCATION: Ph.D. in educational leadership from Auburn University; M.S.Ed. in English as a second language and literacy from Indiana University; B.A. in English from the University of Texas at Austin
