Monica Young
Monica is a Subject Matter Expert for the Gulf Comprehensive Center. In this role, Monica supports projects as needed in content areas related to accountability, educator effectiveness, educator preparation, evaluation systems, and data management and use. In the Gulf region, Monica has engaged in project work with the Mississippi Department of Education to support their design of guidance and resources for local community engagement councils and to refine their state educator professional growth system. Monica’s technical experience includes analysis and guidance for educator workforce planning, design of educator evaluation systems, analysis of state and district plans for compliance, supporting planning for data governance and data management, developing plans for implementing and sustaining initiatives, designing communications and reporting for stakeholders, and development of business requirements for online reporting systems and associated tutorials, user guides, and training materials. Monica lives in the Adirondack Mountains and enjoys spending time in the crisp mountain air.
EDUCATION: Ph.D. in science education from Syracuse University; M.S. in science teaching, Grades 7–12 physics from Syracuse University; M.S. in mechanical engineering from Syracuse University; B.S. in mechanical engineering from Clarkson University
